ABOUT THE CLUB: Founded in 1925, the Los Angeles Breakfast Club still thrives with food, friendship, and fun. Our meetings are held in our clubhouse, Friendship Auditorium, located at 3201 Riverside Drive, near the corner of Los Feliz Boulevard, in Griffith Park. Best described as a variety show, attendees enjoy a catered breakfast, silly songs, club traditions, and an interesting presentation from a guest speaker.

ABOUT JIMMY ANGEL:  After being discovered in a Memphis record store due to his resemblance to Elvis Presley, Jimmy Angel moved to New York City to become a teen idol. There, he received Gold Records, was signed by multiple labels, appeared in thousands of teen magazines, and... became a member of New York's reigning mob family when he was "adopted" by crime boss Joe Colombo. But Jimmy lost it all when Colombo was shot three times and left for dead -- Colombo's assailants went after Jimmy, the FBI hounded him, and so... he left his lavish New York life and moved to Japan, with some help from Pat Boone.

For almost three decades, Jimmy performed his music in Japan, but he eventually moved back to America where he now writes and performs original '50s-style rock 'n roll songs around Los Angeles.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Vincent Bagby's new book "Gangster Idol" chronicles the rollicking story of Jimmy Angels's incredible luck and bad fortune, and the remarkable ways he reinvented himself at every turn.
